Preparing For Soccer Camps Together With Your Kids

By Barbara Price

Kids who like playing soccer and a member of their school team wants to improve their performance when playing. This helps them be chosen by their coach to play regularly on matches and contribute more for their club to win. Their improved skills would also make them more confident and could help them in getting into the team in their future schools.

This goal can be achieved by letting your kids go to camps where they would be trained by qualified coaches and practice what they learn with others. There are soccer camps Calgary that are available for them to attend and choose a reputable one. If your child is attending one and it is their first time then help them prepare themselves for this activity.

Let them know your plans of going into camping area so they will get ready including going there days before for familiarizing the place better. Ask the management to allow you a tour of the location and show them their lodging and practice areas. Emphasize that anything of importance will not happen at home when they are away.

Show your confidence that they will be excelling and thriving at the camp because it helps increase their changes of succeeding. They can try new things, learn more regarding themselves and meet new people there. If both of you feel nervous, discuss these emotions to let them understand on how excited you are for them to experience something new.

Start packing early together to avoid stress and having to forget some things even weeks before their activity starts. Check the list provided by their management on what to bring and fill their bag slowly with them and buy the ones you lack. Avoiding unhealthy emotions is not the only reason for doing this early but also more time is available for you to complete the list.

Advise them to bring something that would help them become comfortable and feel at home even away from your house such as a photo, stuffed animal or pillow. Set goals together on what they plan on achieving during the camp. Ask them their progress on their goals, like their soccer skills or new friends made, every time you call upon them.

Ready a communication plan and discuss it with your child and make it clear to them what to expect from these calls. Numerous opportunities are given for you to check in on them without the camp experience they have being jeopardized. Short conversations are enough using the cellphone which allows them to get back to making new friends.

Making new friends to other campers should be encouraged as much as possible because others came from different states or even countries. They can learn about the other campers more including their lives and experience with soccer that are helpful in making connection to others. Encourage having a continued connection with them even when the camp ends.

Have an early sleep on the night before the activity so you are fresh and excited when you wake up. Make plans after the camp ends like dinner. Give this chance for your child to share their memories and accomplishments there.
